Late Bhuvneshwari Dayal was born into an educated family on July 11, 1905, in Bihar. He was a teacher at a government high school in Maner, located on the outskirts of Patna district. Throughout his life, he lived with grace and dignity. He remained the epitome of simplicity, sacrifices, inspiration, and commitment to the cause of education and high values in life. Though he preferred a life of celibacy, he was extravagantly generous to dole out his post-superannuation benefits for the cause of education. B.D. College, Patna, previously known as B.D. College, came into being in 1970 with the charity money of the revered soul, Late Bhuneshwari Dayal.
Though Bhuneshwari Dayal died on June 24, 1974, his indelible footprints of sacrifices, indomitable spirits, and dedication to the cause of education will continue to inspire us to take the institution to a height of glory and excellence in the years to come.
Perhaps it is the only college that has been rechristened after the name of an educationist in Bihar. Indeed, the college has been flourishing under the shadow of his blessings since its existence. The college was accredited Grade 'B' in 2014 by the NAAC, and it does cherish making a room for the have-nots and the underprivileged class of society to learn not only to be good citizens of the country but also to serve the society with more value and enthusiasm.
Sri Bhuvaneshwari Dayal was the namesake and founder of B.D. College in Patna. The college was established in 1970 and initially started as an evening college to cater to working individuals seeking further education.
It is now a constituent unit of Patliputra University, Patna and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various streams. B.D. College was founded to honor the memory of Sri Bhuvaneshwari Dayal, an eminent educator known for his dedication to the development of education. The college's mission is to instill a spirit of commitment and devotion in students, encouraging them to become responsible citizens and contribute to society. Its vision includes promoting social harmony, religious tolerance, and community development while fostering academic excellence.
